94.7 Christmas wish granted to Richard Laskey

Honouring Richard and his CHOC cows

On 9 December 2009 94.7 granted a Christmas Wish live on stage at the Christmas Wish concert. For each person who attended the concert, Spar donated R20 towards granting this Christmas Wish. The wish was for an individual who has done a great deal of good for charities throughout the year. He has run the Comrades in a dog suit for the SPCA, he rode the Argus in a dog suit for the SPCA, he rode the Argus in a Superman suit for Starfish, and did the 94.7 Cycle Challenge in a wolf suit for Homeless Talk one year, and on an ice-cream bike for Starfish another year. Richard Laskey and his team of Choc Cows also rode the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge this year to raise funds for the cancer charity, CHOC. His wife Melanie was diagnosed with a rare cancer, and a specialist surgeon had to be flown in to operate. It is so rare, that the family is still waiting for the medication to arrive from overseas, so that Melanie can start chemotherapy. Richard has incurred huge medical debt, but continues to campaign for those he considers less fortunate than him. Spar are sponsoring R100 000 towards medical treatment for his wife Melanie, groceries for 12 months and help with school fees for the children for 2010. Thank you to Spar, to everyone who attended the concert and contributed to this wish, and to the Coca-Cola Dome for hosting the Christmas Wish concert 2009. (Quoted from 94.7 Website)

A note from Laura Foster: “I just love to run, 70-680 exam questions  and I know how I’d feel in Frankie’s shoes - though I’m not sure I’d have her die-hard spirit to keep perservering against the battles she has to win. And because, like her, cissp exam questions  I’m single, self-employed and on the far side of forty, (fa a a r!) the spectre of not being able to cover one’s bills and make one’s way is ever at one’s side. And, as I said in the Augrabies snippet, knowing that I’ve made a commitment to help Frankie is a tremendous motivator - so in that respect it’s a selfish thing to a certain extent, if one is honest grin There’s a degree of self-gratification in helping others, but I really do believe in karma and the power of positive actions and thinking. And one 70-536 exam questions should never, never, never, become complacent about one’s health and happiness - they are fragile things and if have them, we must nurture and enjoy them grin
