A year of running for Frankie
Published: 13 December 2009 |
A note from Laura Foster: “I just love to run, and I know how I’d feel in Frankie’s shoes - though I’m not sure I’d have her die-hard spirit to keep perservering against the battles she has to win. And because, like her, I’m single, self-employed and on the far side of forty, (fa a a r!) the spectre of not being able to cover one’s bills and make one’s way is ever at one’s side. And, as I said in the Augrabies snippet, knowing that I’ve made a commitment to help Frankie is a tremendous motivator - so in that respect it’s a selfish thing to a certain extent, if one is honest
There’s a degree of self-gratification in helping others, but I really do believe in karma and the power of positive actions and thinking. And one should never, never, never, become complacent about one’s health and happiness - they are fragile things and if have them, we must nurture and enjoy them ![]()
You may by all means put me in the blog - as an endorsement of backabuddy I would definitely say that you, Rivashnee, in particular, and backabuddy as an organisation have gone several miles beyond the extra mile to help with my efforts, and I can’t tell you what a lift it gives one to log onto one’s page and see that donations have come in, and read the messages of support!”

South Africa is still in the midst of political, social and economical transformation. It has overcome many of the problems it faced as a new democracy in 1994. However, many challenges remain and MaAfrika Tikkun is playing a part in making a meaningful difference to the upliftment 70-284 of previously disadvantaged and impoverished people in South Africa.MaAfrika Tikkun is a symbol of hope for those who want to progress in life, but up until now have not had the means to do so. We are the bridge between government and private sector services in that our goal 70-271 is to create community centers and embark on community projects that allow the community (within a period of 5 years) to then take ownership of the project and to continue with it. We place a high value / premium on local relevance, which is manifested by our contribution to the quality of life in South Africa. In doing so, we are sensitive to the national needs and social and cultural contexts 70-236 of the regions in which we operate.
