Ferdi Postma and Nicholas Stuber -2 ABSAlute Strangers
Description
Ferdi and Nic are 2 ABSAlute Strangers (our team name) and have made a pact to take on the Cape Epic challenge www.cape-epic.com taking place from 21 to 28 March this year. Although it is going to be a HUGE challenge for both of us, it is also an amazing, lifetime opportunity for anyone who has a passion for cycling like we do! One of the most difficult parts of the Cape Epic (there are many) is gaining an entry to this prestigious event. Only 1 200 riders compete in this race, with international riders, so entries are very limited. We managed to acquire an entry via the Morningside Rotary club who kindly offered us an entry on condition that we raise funds for the very noble charities that they support. Some of the funds raised will go to fighting polio worldwide. The Absa Cape Epic presented by Adidas takes place every year around the last week of March and the first week of April. The race is held over 8 days and includes a time-trial prologue. The route changes every year, and leads aspiring amateur (like us) and professional mountain bikers from around the world through 722 kilometers of the unspoilt nature of the Western Cape and up approximately 14 500m of climbing over some of the most magnificent passes in South Africa. The fact that we are riding this grueling race in aid of charity will make it that much more worthwhile. Your support for us and for these charities will be hugely appreciated and will contribute to our team “2 ABSAlute Strangers” making it to the finish line of the Epic on the 28 March 2010. We would appreciate your support of our ride by way of sponsorship for the Rotary Club of Morningside (your donation is paid directly to the charity organisation). Any contribution that you can make will be greatly appreciated. Ferdi & Nic
