Personal message

I will be representing Group Five Civil Engineering as a charity champion for multiple sclerosis at the 94.7 cycle race on 15 November 2008. My intention is to raise R15 000 for the Inland Branch (Gauteng) which they will allocate to the care and support for people suffering from MS.

Anne Frank:  “No one has ever become poor by giving”

Read more about MS on www.multiplesclerosis.co.za or call their national Helpline on 0860 456 772 for more information.

There are about 8000 PwMS in South Africa. My mom has been living with the disease for 19 years. Please support my effort on the www.backabuddy.co.za website with your donations or contact the MS society directly at 011 477 3540

SYMPTOMS: MS is a tailor-made disease and symptoms vary from person to person in severity and occurrence. It can include extreme fatigue, mobility difficulties, eyesight, balance and sensory problems such as tingling or numbness. Fluctuating degrees of ability, independence and energy create high stress levels not only for the person with MS, but also for partners, children and other family members.

There is no cure for this progressive, debilitating disease of the central nerve system affecting people in the prime of their lives. The brain and spinal chord are targeted by the body’s immune system resulting in damage to the protective layer around the nerves, slowing messages from the brain to the body.
