Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, and thank you everyone for helping me reach my target.

I arrived, fighting waves of nervous nausea on Sunday morning, feeling not nearly ready to tackle 50 km.

But I did it. I was hoping to just make cut-off. Instead, I came in under eight hours, in the top 100 walkers, and have a (fake) golf medal for my efforts. So, apart from the odd blister and some stiffness, I'm feeling exceptionally pleased with myself.

In addition, though, I remain amazed at what the body can achieve once determination kicks in. There were times when I was weaving across the pavement, willing it all to end. But I pushed on, and managed to get a second breath for the last kilometer so that I could power into the stadium and try to fool anyone who took the time to look that this was just a breeze.

Again I learnt: You can always go further than you thought you could. You can always do more. Never give up.

Thank you again for your support. It really did make the experience much more worthwhile!

Regards

Deirdre
