Thank you for visiting my web page. I’m training to run the London Marathon in April 2011 in aid of charity. The charity I’ve chosen to support is Mamelani, an organisation with which I’ve had the privilege to be associated for several years. Through listening to the particular needs of women, youth and children, Mamelani aims to empower and strengthen marginalized communities by facilitating programs that focus on developing people through health education, skills training and personal development. Mamelani’s community development programs are aimed at assisting people in realising their full potential thereby establishing a healthy, fair and egalitarian society. Mamelani’s programmes work with youth who have come out of State care to become independent young adults and supports mothers, many of whom are HIV positive in taking care of their health and the health of their families. Mamelani has section 18A Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) status (PBO no.: 930012708), which means donations made in South Africa are tax deductible and Mamelani will issue donation receipts for income tax purposes upon request.
