Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I AM RUNNING THE NEW YORK MARATHON TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE KIDS ON THE MIGHTY METERS PROGRAM.

The JAG Sports and Education Foundation in South Africa, runs programs to encourage, motivate, train and mentor school children based on sporting activities and especially around running.  Our running program is called MIGHTY METERS.  For details, visit www.jagfoundation.com.  We work with over 10000 children at schools in disadvantaged areas around Cape Town.  South African Olympic silver medalist, Elana Meyer, is our CEO. 

The response from the children and their educators has been overwhelming.  The kids love running, they love the challenges we set them and they strive to exceed their individual set targets.  Our task is to ensure that these programs are sustainable and will be extended to many more schools. 

We have the full support and some small financial aid from the New York Road Runners Foundation (NYRRF).  Their similar program has been very successful in the inner (less affluent) schools of New York. We also have the full backing of the Department of Education in the Western Cape.

Athletes, through JAG and the NYRRF, can obtain guaranteed entries to the 2008 New York Marathon by raising money for the official New York charity - $2500.00 (+-R20000.00) per entry. The organizers (NYRRF) agreed that the money we raise will all be going back into our own Mighty Meters program and not to the New York charity which is Team For Kids. Therefore all monies raised in SA will ONLY be used for our JAG initiatives. 

I now need your help by sponsoring towards this initiative. I will be running the marathon to raise awareness for this great cause!

 

 

 Lucky Prizes!

I have sourced some lucky draw prizes wich include product from Distell (hunters, Savannah and Vawter) as well as wine from Koopmans Kloof. These prizes will be drawn after the event and 5 lucky people will stand a chance to win!
