We are 3rd year students studying at AFDA (The South African School of Motion Picture and Live Performance) one of the leading institutions of its kind, with films broadcasted on MNET and SABC and achievements recognized both locally and internationally for a number of students’ work that has won various awards including the M-NET EDIT award and the much desired student OSCAR award.
We’re producing our 12 minute graduation film, an examination closely monitored in all avenues by lecturers yet still carried out meaningfully, with the utmost passion from each crew member. “Vryheid” is a historical action drama set in 1989, with a tagline of “Overcoming the present is understanding the past.” It is not a typical apartheid film with a heavy undertone and a non fulfilling ending but will rather engage the audience through a journey that forces two men to overcome and appreciate their differences, a journey that will unfold surprisingly refreshing results to the audience.
Our goals for the production are:
o To produce a film that will be broadcasted locally by the SABC or MNET.
o To generate an award winning film that will acquire both local and international recognition.
However, having taken into account the projected needs in producing “Vryheid” the various fund raising activities we’re currently running will not cover the productions financial needs. Therefore we shall be grateful if you would take a few minutes of your time to”back a buddy” by generously supporting us in producing this unique film and aid in the growth of our capabilities as filmmakers.
