This year's Starfish Stagger will take place in Durban on Sunday, 22 June. A group of KZN ladies (and some brave ladettes!) will be running the Spar Ladies 10km Challenge in aid of an amazing charity called the Starfish Greatheart's Foundation.
Starfish assists children who have been orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. The monies donated go to the provision of home visits, mentoring, nutritional support, educational support, counselling, etc. The numbers are staggering .... there are over 1.5 million orphans in South Africa and approximately 78% are as a result of their parents dying from HIV/AIDS.
We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity not only to participate in this event, but to also support this very worthwhile charity. With our help, these children can grow up, achieve their dreams, and become contributing members to their society - our world - despite the hardships of their childhood. I hope this cause reaches your heart as it did ours.

Starfish Greathearts Foundation is an international development charity, aiming to bring life, hope and opportunity to orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa. Motivated by our founding parable, Starfish believes that each of us can make a difference to the lives of South African children orphaned or left vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. Starfish is making a significant impact in many communities across South Africa, working through non-governmental and community-based organizations. These organizations provide various services to the children: home visits, counseling, access to education and social grants, amongst others.
