This August I will be taking part in the Tour de Tuli , a cycle ride involving 330 participants that will take us through the South East corner of Botswana into Zimbabwe and back into South Africa .I have been assured of "great game viewing opportunities"which I am not sure is a good or bad thing-see photo!!
We will be covering a distance of over 300km in four days and expected to spend 8 hours in the saddle each day(my eyes water at the mere thought of it).And whilst this may not sound like much to most of you hardened souls, the terrain is extremely challenging which I have been assured will take me way outside of my comfort zone. Much of the time will be spent following old elephant trails,traversing dry river beds...and some unfortunately not so dry river beds (oh yes there are crocs).
The object of this ride is to raise money for "Children in the Wilderness" a charity that hosts rural children that live alongside the Parks and Reserves in South Africa and teaches them the importance of conservation. Children in the Wilderness exposes children to their wildlife heritage, builds and strengthens their capabilities to cope with life's challenges and educates them with the life skills necessary to actualize their greatest potential.
So whilst I do appreciate this is not a good time to be asking for money please dig deep and support us in our fundraising initiatives to make a difference.
PLEASE NOTE: The funding amounts pledged below are based in South African rand. You can work on approximately UKL 1 = 11 South African rand ie R110 = UKL11
