Alta du Toit Aftercare is a centre where adults (18 years and older) with intellectual disabilities receive care and are developed in order to reach their full potential in life. The Aftercare centre has been in existence for 32 years. Vision: To be a leader in the field of service delivery to adults with intellectual disability. Work area: West Coast, Boland, Cape Metropolitan Summary of Alta du Toit Aftercare: • 184 residents • 82 Day care clients • Physical and medical care • Therapeutic development groups • Work training and development • Sports & social activities Aside from the work groups, clients can also participate in activities such as athletics, Bocci, singings and dancing. Altasorg: Altasorg is the marketing department if the Aftercare centre. The main aim of this department is to give members of the public the opportunity to become part of a caring community, which contributes to the happiness of people with intellectual disability. Through Altasorg we: • Share success stories of clients • Arrange and facilitate visits to the centre to give people the opportunity to learn about the lives of people with intellectual disability. • Implement fundraising initiatives Alta du Toit Aftercare centre is a safe haven for people with intellectual disability where they can live and work.
