In a little bit over a week I will be competing in the World Championships in Daegu, Korea, in the marathon. Up until now I have been blessed with great health and talent and want to use this opportunity to use my blessings to be a blessing to others.

I have had tremendous support throughout my running career, from my coach, family, doctors, and physiotherapists and of course the running community.  I would like to thank you all for your support by giving back to the community. At the moment there are approximately 1.3 million orphans in South Africa.  Kibwe Kids is a charity that is hoping to meet the needs of these children, by placing them in a loving home. At the moment they have houses in Johannesburg and in Senekal, but unfortunately had to close the baby house in Kayamandi, Stellenbosh due to insufficient funding. Kibwe in Johannesburg has 6 orphans aged 4 to 8. The Senekal house has opened their doors for 7 babies and 8 toddlers so far. The monthly budget per house is approximately R35 000.

Please help me to raise as much as possible for Kibwe Kids, who is changing children’s lives, who has been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS.  For more information please visit www.kibwekids.net
