Just Footpints
I am currently working on ways to help the Just Footprints Foundation. Just Footprints is a sister organization to Paul Newman's Association of the Hole in the Wall Camps: camps designed for kids with life threatening diseases. One of the projects we are exploring is bringing a progam that I created called Project Outlook to Just Footprints. Project Outlook teaches kids classical photography and lets them photograph their world from their viewpoint. Kids dealing with life threatening illneses do amazing work. Project Outlook is one of the few times in their life that they get ownership and control of how people get to see them. Because of their medical or social environments the world is always trying to control what they can and can not do. Imagine sitting in hospital for weeks on end undergoing chemo therapy. All the while your parents sit and worry while your friends play outside. Project Outlook enables these wonderful children to find their own "voice" and create powerful imagery about how they view the world.
Please help to bring this wonderful program to Africa and to help the Just Footprints Foundation. All of the money donated through this on-going event goes to the Just Footprints Foundation. I will be visiting the Just Footprints Camp in April of 2010.

Business Skills Training for the Disabled
The CBM Training and Association for the Physically Disabled Project to Provide Business Skills training to People with a Disability
It is one of South Africa’s aims to incorporate more people with disabilities into the workforce to give them the opportunity and dignity of contributing to society on equal terms. However, the Association for the Physically Disabled (APD) have identified that a major stumbling block in this process is that people with disabilities often do not have the relevant business skills or experience to compete with able-bodied people for a position.
CBM Training, a SETA Accredited leader in Corporate and Management Training in South Africa, and the Association for the Physically Disabled have teamed up on a project to address this skills shortage and call on business and corporates to help.
We will be offering a range of ten one-day training courses running over the “quiet” period of the World Cup in June for businesses to book their staff onto. For every delegate booked on these courses, CBM Training will take R1,000 out of the course price to provide 1 days Skills Training to one person with a disability.
Your company will receive the benefit of a top level training course during a business quiet period, the opportunity to claim back SDL levy, a Section 18a tax certificate for a donation of R1,000 per booking as a tax deduction and to claim BBEE certificate points, and most importantly, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing something POSITIVE towards assisting People with Disabilities to get the training they need to get a productive job in the South Africa Workplace.
The selected course include topics on Reception Skills, Presentations, Debt Collection, Time Management, Speed Reading, Negotiations, Assertiveness, Project Management, Conflict handling and even Memory Skills. There will definitely be SOMEONE in you organisation will benefit from at least one of these. All courses are priced at R2,250 (ex VAT) of which R1,000 will form your donation towards the Association for the Physically Disabled Training Project.
For courses outlines of topics to be covered or to register delegates onto these courses please go to www.cbmtraining.co.za/site/apd.htm or Call Erin on 011 454 5505.
Kitchen Build
The primary need at the school is a functional kitchen (pantry and scullery) and enclosed dining area for the kids. Currently the school is using a small container which has to accommodate four ladies and equipment. The children have to resort to eating outside.
Optimystic Women's Day Event

1000 BOOKS FOR NATIONAL BOOK WEEK
National Book Week takes place from 5 - 10 September 2011, and PawPrint Africa Project is launching a special literacy campaign to bring 1000 books in the Animal Adventures in Africa series to underpriveleged children living around game reserves in South Africa.
Your donation of only R65 a book (or any part thereof) will help promote literacy in sectors that need radical upliftment, as well as in communities that would benefit the most from conservation of wildlife. We always ensure that the books are directly distributed to the children who need them.
Literacy is one of the biggest problems facing our country today. A recent survey by the South African Book Development Council revealed that 51% of South African households did not have a single book in their homes and that only 14% of South Africans are active readers! By helping a child to learn to read, you give them hope in a better future and hope for their communities.
We thank you for your support and wish you a wonderful 'National Book Week'!

SPRING DAY CELEBRATION
Did you know that Climate change is the big issue around the world and Science has shown that climate change is already taking place and that most of the warming that has occurred during the past 50 years is due to human activity? Climate models predict that the average air temperature over South Africa will increase by an estimated 2°C over the next 100 years. Plants and animals may not be able to adapt as quickly to this "rapid" climate change as humans can, and therefore the whole ecosystem is in danger.
We are aiming at encouraging the commuters to plant vegetables or trees in order to help in the fight of climate change. Planting of vegetables and trees is one of the good strategies of fighting the climate change.
We request the different kinds of vegetables seedling that amounts to 2000 packs to be distributed to the commuters on the day of the event.
the event is scheduled as follows:
Date: 01 September 2011
Time: from 09H00 - 16H00
Venue: Metropolitan centre in Bethlehem

"Come Dine With Us 2012"
Come Dine With Us 2012 - The Living Link
Host a get together. It can be a dinner party, picnic, braai, cocktails……whatever you choose. You prepare the meal, your guests pay a price for the meal as if it were served in a restaurant. The proceeds go to The Living Link’s Sponsor-A-Student Initiative.
Anyone can take part, an individual, a company, a club. You can invite as many people as you want from 5-10 depending on your capacity.
The “Come Dine With Us” dinners will raise funds and awareness for The Living Link through hosting dinner parties simultaneously across Johannesburg.
This event seems such an impossible task, but, with the help of 50+ party hosts, who invite 5-10 friends/colleagues each, we will be able to reach our target of 5000 guests. It will be amazing for us to see how many we will be able to get involved and make this happen.
Our target is to find 50+ hosts in 50 venues by the 5th May 2012
We invite you to consider being one of the “Come Dine With Us” hosts and also ask others to be a host.
If you would like to be involved in this initiative please contact Lisa Ward, 083 300 7048/011-447 7183
