ACROSS AFRICA "ONE STEP AT A TIME"
Trek-to-the-Top 2010
All Hands on Dec Friends came into being just as Declan Du Toit’s life came to an end at the tender age of 8 months, the result of being born with cancer. Although there are a number of organisations in South Africa which provide specific services for children with cancer, All Hands on Dec Friends aims to fill some of the gaps that still exist. Not only does cancer affect the child suffering from it, it also affects siblings as family finances do not always stretch to cover what should be a normal life for them. All Hands on Dec Friends has as its objective the provision of care and support for children and their immediate families who all suffer during the course of this dreaded disease in the form of financial assistance towards payment of medical expenses, payment of school fees for siblings, the provision of food vouchers for the family and essential clothing for the children and transport to and from hospital. Financial strain can tear apart the foundations of the strongest family and so being able to cover the cost of a particular procedure for the sick child, or keep his or her siblings in school, can be the difference between a family being able to cope or falling apart at the seams. All Hands on Dec Friends helps in small ways to support that family foundation and in so doing, the very fabric of our society. I've decided to do something I've always dreamed of doing - and what better way to enjoy the privilege, than by assisting a worthy cause. There are so many worthy causes out there, that picking one is not easy. All-Hands-on-Dec-Friends helps innocent children, who through no fault of their own, are suffering as a result of cancer, either directly or indirectly. This is my worthwhile cause and I hope you will help me raise some money for it.

While doing so they will raise awareness and money for The Sunflower Fund and CHOC.

Mount Kilimanjaro: Lemosho Route
Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the highest free standing mountain in the world. It is a challenge that many hikers around the world attempt every year.
Victoria Russell
It’s always good to have a challenge so this year I decided to climb Kilimajaro!
We’re leaving next week for the 6 day Machame route – sleeping in tents, no showers, no toilets and lots of blisters!
Through Africa for Children in the Wilderness
We (Scott Mallen and David McAlpine) are making our way south from Casablanca to Johanesburg. Public transport (in whatever form) is our only mode of travel.
We challenge you to donate R100 for every country we traverse - we hope to get through 12. Even a donation for a single country will go far!
