On 23 May 2009, a hit-and-run motorcycle accident resulted in the amputation of my right leg below the knee. Despite this, I never stopped surfing and have continued to compete nationally and internationally.

One of my biggest dreams has always been to earn my South African Colours. I now have the opportunity to take another step towards that dream by representing South Africa at the 2026 ISA World Para Surfing Championships, taking place from 19–22 November 2026 at DSRT Surf in Palm Desert, California—the world’s latest wave pool.

Competing internationally comes at a significant personal cost. Unlike previous years, I will have no accommodation or support network in California, and there is no government financial assistance available to our team.

The estimated cost of getting me from East London to the Championships is approximately R100,000, covering flights, visas, accommodation, meals, transport, equipment and event fees.
