A mom desperate in need to help her son & herself

I’m writing to you today with a heavy heart, but also with hope.

My mother-in-law is a woman in her 70s who should be enjoying a season of rest. Instead, she is carrying a responsibility that most people cannot begin to understand. She is the sole caregiver and provider for her 42-year-old son, who lives with severe mental illness. He is unable to work, unable to manage daily life on his own, and relies on her completely.

She has given everything she has—emotionally, physically, and financially—to care for him. But now, she has reached a point where she simply cannot keep up anymore. Her funds are depleted, his psychiatric benefits have run out, and the support he desperately needs is no longer accessible. She has also started to loose an unhealthy amount of weight and is gettin sickly, and has no energy. 

At the same time, her home—her only place of comfort—is slowly falling into a state she cannot manage. Basic household items that many of us take for granted are either worn out, broken, or simply no longer there....
