Abu-Bakr Cassiem (1-year-old)
On 12 August 2022, he was admitted to Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital - Paediatric Unit with a case of Pneumonia and a high temperature of 42 degrees. Once settled into the ward, we proceeded to get an X-ray which revealed that his right upper lobe collapsed and further infection in his left lung. His doctors then proceeded to do a viral panel and he contracted 3 viruses (Adenovirus, Rhinovirus and Influenza).
Abu-Bakr was very sick and working very hard to breathe with inflammed lungs. He stayed in Peads at CBMH until Saturday (13/08/2022) evening when he was rushed down into ICU as he needed to be put on Hi Flo oxygen as his vitals were low and he continued to struggle to breathe while working very hard.
