A short history — Where it all began
For the past 20 years I’ve been involved in community service through Rotary International, Sara Fox, YMCA, Red Cross Children’s Hospital and other local projects. After my mother passed in late 2019, I wanted to honour her memory by turning grief into service. That’s how The Akasia Avenue Foundation was born — named for the street I was raised on — to continue her legacy by giving back to the community that shaped me.
What we do
We partner with local businesses, NGOs and volunteers to support underprivileged schools, youth organisations, children’s homes and old-age homes across Athlone and surrounding areas.
We collect and distribute:
- Food parcels
- Sanitary products for girls
- Toiletries for boys and girls in schools
- Clothing and toys for children’s homes
- Monetary donations to cover collection, distribution and program costs
