In August 2024, our beloved Anuska Deysel was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. The tumour grew at an alarming rate, and on 4 August 2024, she underwent emergency brain surgery. Sadly, the surgeons were unable to remove the entire tumour.
After surgery, Anuska showed incredible strength. She completed 33 days of radiation therapy, alongside 33 days of chemotherapy tablets, followed by an additional six-month chemotherapy treatment.
Despite everything she has endured, follow-up MRI scans in January and March 2025 revealed devastating news. Her most recent MRI confirms a high-grade, malignant brain tumour known as an Anaplastic Thalamic Oligodendroglioma (Grade 3).
This means:
• The cancer is aggressive and fast-growing
• It is located deep in the brain, in the thalamus, which controls movement, sensation, and consciousness
