On 15 October, Welton - who works as an Uber Eats delivery man - was hit by a drunk driver on Conrad Drive in Blairgowrie. Upon impact, the driver raced off from the scene, leaving Welton, his bike and food delivery lying in the street. Myself - Samantha - and Sarah happened to be at the garage when the accident happened, and were on scene with Welton. Beagle Watch arrived and raced off to intercept the drunk driver, who had been chased by 2 other drivers, and boxed in up the road. The confirmed he was in fact drunk and aware that he had hit “something”.

On scene, it was immediately clear that Welton was in a lot of pain and that his left leg was badly damaged in the impact, with him crying out in pain and his ankle hanging loosely from his leg. First response confirmed his femur was broken and his ankle totally snapped. After 45 minutes sitting with Welton on the road, an ambulance arrived and transported him to Helen Joseph for medical care. He's in hospital now awaiting surgery, and confirmation around whether they'll be able to save his leg or not.
