About This Campaign

In rural communities like Maqhashu Village in Lady Frere, Eastern Cape, many children walk long distances to school every day without proper school shoes. Some walk barefoot, while others wear worn-out shoes that no longer protect their feet. This affects their health, dignity, confidence, and school attendance.
For a child, a pair of school shoes is more than just footwear — it is dignity, safety, and confidence. Without it, learning becomes harder and school becomes a daily struggle.
Tutuse Community Project, a grassroots community organisation based in Lady Frere, is launching a Back-to-School Shoes Campaign on 23 February 2026, aimed at providing new school shoes to 300–500 vulnerable learners from Maqhashu Village and surrounding areas.
