Back Luhan de Wet on His Journey to the Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal
A South African champion has earned his place on the world stage. Now he needs his community behind him.
Ten-year-old South African karting talent Luhan de Wet has achieved something young racers across the world dream of: he has qualified to represent South Africa at the 2026 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Portugal.
Luhan secured this prestigious opportunity after being crowned the 2026 Mini MAX Africa Open Champion, earning his place among the world’s leading young karting competitors.
From 7–14 November 2026, Luhan will proudly carry the South African flag at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão. The Grand Finals will bring together hundreds of qualified drivers from more than 60 countries for one of the most prestigious events on the international karting calendar.
