Denise Van Der Merwe is a kind and loving 21 year old teenage girl. She has been diagnosed with Type1 Diabetes 10years ago. Denise is a precious girl who deserves every chance in life to be a normal teenager.
For the past year Denise has been in and out of the state hospital with no end in sight. In the past year that Denise has been in hospital at Steve Biko she has been diagnosed with neuropathy and due to this her eye sight has also been affected and she is wearing glasses now.
Imagine for a moment if this was your child constantly in pain and no end in sight to her suffering. Denise is waiting and hoping for a miracle to end this constant pain, agony and vomiting. Doctors discovered on the 1st of June that Denise has cysts on her ovaries. At Steve Biko the doctors believe this is the cause for the excruciating pain and vomiting. The waiting list at Steve Biko is 3 to 6months for the surgery. Denise can not continue to deteriorate. She has lost so much weight, because of the vomiting and pain. In the long run this has affected her immune system...
