The Baviaanskloof and its surrounding communities have been devastated by catastrophic flooding following excessive rainfall over 5-7 May 2026.
Located in one of South Africa's most isolated regions, the Baviaanskloof communities have been impacted by major damage: roads have been destroyed, and agriculture and tourism have been signficantly impacted.
These are communities that were already living on the margins. There are no easy routes in or out, no quick fixes. Recovery will be slow and expensive, and it will not happen without outside help.
What your money will do:
Every rand raised goes directly to three urgent needs:
- Road repairs and access routes so that aid, emergency services, and residents can move in and out of the valley
- Food and essential supplies for households who have been cut off and cannot get to shops or markets
- House clean-up and repairs for families whose homes have been damaged or flooded
