Kalila's Support Fund
Please help us support Kalila and her family.
On Saturday 4th July, Kalila was taken to the hospital by Netti, her Mom, following a headache on Wednesday and weakness at her Crossfit class on Thursday. By Friday her walking had become very uncoordinated and she was showing pupil dilation. Her symptoms came on fast, within a few days.
Kalila was transferred from Knysna to George Medi Clinic that same Saturday night to have MRI scans. Those scans revealed what appeared to be a tumor/lesion on her brainstem, right in the middle of her brain. The Doctors told Netti that it is an incredibly rare tumour and impossible to operate on due to the location.
Kalila was released from Medi Clinic after a week and went home to wait for a transfer to see specialists at Red Cross in Cape Town. Unfortunately after just 1 short week at home, her condition rapidly deteriorated and she was admitted back into George Medi Clinic where she is currently in critical condition in the ICU.
