Berties journey
On the 9th of March 2003 the family was blessed with the arrival of Bertie.
4 moths later during his routine checkup the news of his heart valve was broken to the family and he underwent heart surgery.
This was in no means a setback for the little fighter.
During kindergarden the teacher noticed he had a problem opening his hands.
He was admitted to the Red Cross Childrens hospital in Cape Town where he for several years had to wear hand braces. He hated that but his fighting spirit and determination he lived a very full and active life.
With his problems with his hands the doctor informed the family that Bertie will not be able to do certain things like use a pair of scissors but he showed us he will not be held back and he rocked the scissors.
He was teased st school and people mad fun of him but he did not allow that to break his spirits.
At age 3 a car ran over his feet when he tried to stop his friend from running into the road.
