Black Bird Blues

Please help us continue our work.

We are a communal household, informally called “The Bird House”. We are a bunch of quirky, creative, friends-turn-family individuals. We have our various hustles and work avenues which allow us to pay the bills, maintain our food garden and also support our Food Outreach.

We started “Locked Out” in Joburg during covid, later relocated with it to Cape Town, and have remained an active - and proudly unregistered - outreach, assisting the displaced and the homeless with daily food, basic needs items etc. We rely solely on public donations and the money we bring in through our freelance business - BlackBird Creative. We do art, design, illustration, animation, photography, video and voice overs… and whatever we can to make ends meet.

Unfortunately, we hit a huge problem. At a very hard financial time, our main computer - a desktop mac we inherited from a previous work-place - has died. 
As you can imagine - the repair is expensive, while having a machine is essential to our work and the continuation of our projects.
