In July 2026, our family received the devastating news that Blanche van Huyssteen our beloved sister, mother and friend to many, had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, our focus has been on supporting her through this incredibly difficult journey and ensuring that she has access to the best possible treatment.

While her medical aid covers the chemotherapy, it only covers part of the immunotherapy she urgently needs alongside it. This treatment is an important part of her treatment plan, and the outstanding cost that she needs to pay herself amounts to R270,675 — a financial burden that is incredibly difficult for our family to carry alone.

Blanche is so much more than her diagnosis. She is a loving mother, a sister, and a proud new grandmother to a precious little grandchild. She is deeply loved by her family, and receiving this diagnosis has been heartbreaking for all of us. We want nothing more than to see her have the best possible chance of responding well to treatment.
