About This Campaign
Help Us Grow the Next 113 Years
Today, the Botanical Society of South Africa celebrates 113 years of bringing people and plants together.
When BOT SOC was founded in 1913, its supporters rallied behind a bold vision: the establishment of Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. In those early years, members raised funds through practical acts of support, collecting firewood, soil and acorns, sharing botanical knowledge and helping build the foundations of what would become one of the world's great botanical gardens.
More than a century later, that same spirit continues to drive our work.
While our roots remain firmly connected to South Africa's botanical gardens, our conservation efforts have grown to meet the challenges of a changing world. Today, BOT SOC works across six key conservation focus areas:
- Protecting important plant areas and threatened species
- Responding to the plant poaching crisis
- Youth development and creating conservation career opportunities
- Stewards...
