Good day, friends. Eunice Pretorius, 80 years old. She has been married to Willem Pretorius for 60 years and has lived in Heidelberg for decades. DIAGNOSIS: In May 2024, Eunice was diagnosed with “Stage 4 Bilateral Invasive Breast Cancer”. Her oncologist noted that she has two rare types of cancer, each with distinct biological compositions, complicating her treatment. BILATERAL-Both Breast RIGHT BREAST: Stage 4 Invasive Carcinoma: T4CN2HER LEFT BREAST: Stage 2 Invasive Carcinoma: T2N2HR+ TREATMENTS: Eunice will undergo 12 weeks of chemotherapy, followed by several months of hormone blocker treatment, a full mastectomy of both breasts. Chemotherapy and hormone therapy are impacting her immunity due to several side effects.FUNDRAISING PROJECT: Unfortunately, my parents do not have medical aid, so the treatment is being managed at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg. The true financial burden of cancer is often unrecorded, leaving families unprepared for the hidden costs associated with this disease.
