My name is Sharleen Deacon. I’m a wife, mother, and grandmother.
On 30 June 2024 I had a Merkels Cell Carcinoma lump removed from my neck. Merkel's is a very rare cancer. Despite 30 radiation treatments on the area, my cancer returned in October 2024.
My Oncologist says my only option of treatment would be Immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody which blocks thePD-1 receptor). This means a Keytruda drip every 3 weeks for minimum of three rounds of treatment.
Discovery declined the treatment.
The Keytruda drip costs R82 022 89 for ONE drip.
