Caring for Marius

Hello! It’s Symone here, Marius’s daughter. If you’re seeing this then you must know my dad or have come across him at some point in your life. Unfortunately we are battling with a very difficult and heartbreaking situation. Here’s a bit of background. 

Last year October (2024) my dad was diagnosed with vascular dementia. It was something we knew that would change our life forever but we were adamant that this would not stop us from enjoying life. And if you know Marius, then you can be sure nothing would stop him from having fun. But on the 27th of November, my dad had a seizure in his sleep and my mom thought he had died. We rushed him to hospital where they were able to care for him as he moved from high care, to ICU, to a general ward and then to his rehabilitation facility. 

We have been told that dad has suffered some brain damage, this could be a result of the dementia or the seizure. He currently cannot stand or walk on his own (he is working closely with physiotherapists to get him more mobile). He battles to always recognize us and he struggles to...
