Don’t you find we bustle around with our busy lives? One day rolls into the next and we live like we know what tomorrow brings, until a life-altering event strikes.
That was us and this is our story:
Tuesday, 10 October, 2022… The day that signified a change of course for our lives.
Tuesday, 10 October, 2022… Our Carlie Grace, a spritely, fun-loving, enthusiastic twelve-year-old, was admitted under emergency to eThekwini, Durban Haematology Hospital, where she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia. With no time to lose, she began intensive chemotherapy that required her to undergo blocks of treatment with short breaks for the eight months that followed.
Never would we have guessed that Tuesday morning, what lay ahead and as the siblings clung to each other in parting hugs, they would only see their adored sister back home seven weeks later, for her first break in treatment.
The normal we were so accustomed to was gone in an instant.
Carlie was admitted into a paediatric ward and surrounded by caring, kind doctors, nurses...
