Ceramic Arts Charity Appeal
My name is Lauriel Shelley, and I am urgently asking for help for an artist in crisis.
Peter Mthombeni is a highly skilled, multi-award-winning ceramic artist whom I have known for over 42 years. I was a student during the time of political struggle in our country, and Peter was part of that journey as a gifted young artist with extraordinary promise and vision. We marched and stood together for acceptance and inclusion, and he was our protégé during those formative years. I was part of a group that, in our own way, contributed to the broader struggle for freedom - and today I simply ask for Ubuntu.
Peter is a renowned ceramic artist whose work reflects both mastery and imagination. Over decades, he has created stylish, high-quality pottery and tableware - cups and saucers, teapots, vases, sculptures, platters, plates, bowls, and containers - each piece shaped with precision and care. His finely crafted tulip teacups and saucers are especially admired and regarded as collector’s pieces.
