Chane's Lung Cancer Battle

So on the 6th of November 2023 I was diagnosed with LELC - lymphoepithelial carcinoma of the lung. This is an extremely rare lung cancer and not at all expected at the age of 31. Statistically, it's less than 1% of all lung cancer diagnosis. 

 

The tumour is 7 x 4cm and currently obstructing airflow to my right lung, which has caused the upper lobe to collapse. 

 

I am stage IIIA - so we are aiming to not only treat, but cure by ceasing spread and shrinking the mass with chemo down to an operable size. 

 

I started my first cycle of chemo on the 28th of November 2023. 

 

There is very limited research available on LELC, the tumour is extremely abnormal, it bleeds easily; and I'm obviously... not sure how to explain the position I find myself in. We are having to do so many tests, especially to attempt to better understand this rare malignancy and how to best treat it.
