Ending period poverty once and for all! Mina and Gift of the Givers join hands

The Mina Foundation and The Gift of the Givers Foundation have partnered up to end period poverty once and for all. 

Did you know that thousands of girls miss out on school due to period poverty? This means that they either have no access to period products, proper sanitation, safe toilets and or enough information and awareness when it comes to menstrual care. 

We strongly believe that menstrual rights are Human Rights, and that all social ills regarding the girl child stems from here. Lack of basic needs promote statutory rape and abuse in our communities. Menstruators are often in a situation where they need to choose between a period product or a loaf of bread. NO ONE should be in a situation to make that choice. 

We can tell you some heartbreaking and painful stories. We have met women using cow dung, grape leaves, plastic bags, mealie cobs and mattress sponges, just to manage a period.
