A Home of Care in the Central Drakensberg
In our small home nestled in the Central Drakensberg, we have elderly residents who are no longer able to live alone. They come to us because they need safety, warmth and consistent support. They arrived with frail bodies, with loneliness ... and with stories that deserve honouring.
My husband and I are both qualified medics, which means they receive 24/7 trained medical care, comfort, monitoring and assistance. We do this from the heart — not for profit — and we consider it a blessing to accompany them in this season of life. We are not a registered organization or formal entity. We are a husband and wife team who have opened our home to those who need a safe place to live.
But the truth is: we are not coping financially.
Their pensions are not enough and our monthly household income cannot consistently cover:
*Groceries
*Rental
*Electricity
*Medication costs
*Doctor visits
*Housekeeping assistance
*A small treat or comfort, Christmas and birthday celebrations
