Zoë is an inspiring 18-year-old who has been courageously battling Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease that attacks vital organs. While there is no cure for lupus, it can be managed with the right medication. Zoë's journey with lupus has been nothing short of extraordinary.

In 2022, just a day before the school year began, Zoë fell critically ill and was rushed to the hospital. What started as an unknown illness quickly escalated, landing her in the ICU. Days turned into weeks, and her condition deteriorated rapidly. Doctors were at a loss, and her family was devastated when they were asked to say their goodbyes to the then 15-year-old Zoë.

Refusing to give up, her family arranged for her transfer to Milpark Hospital in Parktown. Upon arrival, Zoë was immediately rushed into surgery. A team of specialists worked tirelessly to save her life as the lupus had caused multiple organ failure.
