Sonneblom Foundation became aware through Johannes C. Wolfaardt from Struggling Stains and United for Change SA about a case of a 17-year-old scholar (to protect the child’s identity, let’s call him “Johan”) from a town in the Northern Cape whose parents, unfortunately, cannot afford the school fees. He is in Grade 10 and hopes to get into a technical field when he finishes school. Computing is probably the way he will go if he can find the resources to study that.
Unfortunately, with many factors contributing, his parents have fallen in arrears with fees since 2018. Amounts before 2021 were handed over to lawyers for debt collection.
The total amounts for each of these years are accumulated to R31700:
