Cycle to School

We are FABIO - the First African Bicycle Information Organisation - located in Jinja, Uganda. And Cycle to School is our attempt to make education more accessible and therefore improve student retention, attendance and performance at community level. With the simple tool of a bicycle we want to empower students and give them more independence about their future! Help us fund more bicycles and impact these young people's lives!

Children without a bicycle walking long distances to school face many challenges including increased tardiness, exhaustion and safety risks . Some students live kilometer away from school and therefore have to start walking early in the morning when it is still dark and arrive home in the evening in the dark again. The adolescent girls, in particular, are at risk for rape and for complete withdrawal from the educational system. In addition, research shows that education is an essential element to end the cycle of disease (like HIV) and poverty.
