Dave (my brother) has been diagnosed with a malignant thymoma (a cancer of the thymus) which has spread into his right chest wall. Due to its location, surgery is not an option and he will start chemo this week (mid May). He will be having chemo treatment in 3 week cycles for the next 6 months.
This year Stu and I are dedicating our Comrades (11th June) to run for Dave to raise as much financial assistance for them with their many upcoming medical bills and Dave being able to only do limited work as he recovers.
Dave is incredibly talented with his bike building and has always been up for any challenge on and off the bike. He is in a positive mindset knowing he is young, healthy and ready to tackle this head on.
