Conquering Compassberg for a cause

Join me on a journey with a purpose! I'm Dawid de Wet and I am embarking on a unique challenge to conquer the mighty Compasberg barefoot to raise funds for the Dangerous Darkies Junior Football team in uMazizake, Graaff-Reinet. Our goal is to provide these talented young athletes with the soccer boots, balls and kit they need to pursue their passion for the game.

Compassberg (2502m) is the highest peak in the Sneeuberg range and second highest in the Eastern Cape. The vegetation along the climb is montane grassveld. There are 360° views of the Karoo from the summit. Apparently during the Anglo Boer War the heliograph world record was set here by British troops who managed to send a message to the Cockscomb mountain near the coast.
