Kevin has been a medic saving members of the community selflessly for his entire life.
In 2020 he went for a medical check up for his PDP and was immediately diagnosed with end stage renal failure. A total shock and life changing moment.
He has been going to dialysis 3 times a week and started the process of testing to get onto the transplant list. Unfortunately due to life happening we could no longer afford medical aid which meant stopping dialysis.
Unfortunately the previous medical aid didn’t pay for some of Kevin’s sessions at National Renal Care and some of his blood tests at ampath so we are slowly trying to clear old outstanding amounts as well.
He has now managed to apply to get back onto a medical aid but unfortunately it now means he will have a 12 month waiting period for absolutely everything to do with renal failure.
His current kidney function is unfortunately sitting near 6% total function and will progressively get worse without dialysis as the toxins are building up in his body.
