FROM ONE CHILD TO A THOUSAND FUTURES

Grant Ngcobo did not grow up surrounded by opportunity. He grew up surrounded by limits.

In a small flat in Hillbrow, space was tight, options were few, and the future felt distant. There were no safe places to play, no quiet places to study, and no clear pathways forward. For many children, that’s where the story ends. But in 2012, something changed. A small door opened inside Ponte City. Behind it was Dlala Nje. A Library. Computers. Arcade centre. Laughter. Structure. Possibility. 

For the first time, Grant stepped into a space that said: “You matter here. And you are safe to express yourself and reach your full potential”. He didn’t just visit. He committed! Every program. Every session. Homework support, yoga, and computer classes. He showed up, again and again. With no prior computer skills, he started from zero. But what he had was something more powerful: consistency, curiosity, and belief.
