Driving Forward: A Single Dad’s Struggle

Hello, my name is Lambro Fostera. I’m 51 years old, and my beautiful daughter Bria is almost 3 years old (she’ll be 3 in July 2024). We are from Johannesburg South Africa. 

In 2021, my wife passed away, and unfortunately, she never got to hold our daughter. Bria was born 32 weeks premature and had to be incubated. She was born on July 29, 2021, and my wife passed away on August 7, 2021. 

Since then, I’ve been doing my best to raise Bria as a single dad. However, my 1997 Polo Classic, which I’ve had for 3 years, suffered significant engine damage in 2023.  I work at a dealership in the Westrand, and my income is based on the number of cars I Valet service. No work means no pay. 

When my vehicle broke down, my car was towed, and it’s still not fixed as of May 2024. During this time, I was temporarily provided with a dealership car, but they eventually took it back, advising that I didn’t officially work for the company.
