I gave birth on the 22nd of April 2025, and from the time she came out she has had difficulties, she was born in Netcare Parklane hospital, but was moved to Netcare Sunninghill Hospital for the specialists to take over, she had heart arrythmias and breathing difficulties which required her to be on a Central line IV drip to stabilize her heart and the run further tests to determine the reason for her difficulties. Her lungs collapsed twice and they struggled to intubate her which led to them having to perform a tracheostomy. On the 18th of June they diagnosed her with Costello Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder caused by HRAS gene mutations, resulting in multi-organ abnormalities, including developmental delays, distinctive coarse facial features, loose skin, and heart problems (often cardiomyopathy). It is a RASopathy characterized by failure to thrive in infancy, short stature, and an increased risk of tumors. They then needed to put in a PEG tube for feeding as she could not manage swallowing.
