On 6 January 2026, 29-year-old Elzani McCormick brought her beautiful baby girl into the world. It was meant to be the beginning of a joyful new chapter, filled with love, tiny fingers wrapped around hers, and the quiet magic of becoming a mother again. But just eight days later, everything changed.
On 14 January, Elzani suffered a devastating postpartum stroke. Bleeding began on the left side of her brain, followed by a seizure that caused further bleeding on the right. In a matter of moments, her condition became critical. Her family watched in fear as she was rushed into emergency brain surgery. Machines replaced moments, tubes replaced touch, and days turned into weeks inside hospital walls filled with uncertainty and whispered prayers. Every day, her loved ones waited, hoping and pleading for her to come back to them.
And somehow, Elzani fought. She survived. She woke up. But survival was only the beginning of a long and incredibly difficult journey.
