EMERGENCY: Flying 22 February – A Son Donating His Kidney to Save His Mother

Our family urgently needs help.

On 22 February, we will be flying from George to Cape Town for a life-saving kidney transplant at Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital.

On 3 March, my son will undergo surgery first to donate one of his kidneys to me. This transplant is my chance at life after years of kidney failure and dialysis.

We are required to remain in Cape Town for approximately 3–4 weeks for hospital admission, surgery and recovery.

We are four adults travelling: myself, my husband, my son and his wife.

At this stage, we do not have confirmed accommodation in Cape Town, and departure is only days away.

Medical Aid does not cover flights, accommodation, food or all medical shortfalls.

We are urgently raising funds to assist with:

• Return flights for four adults
• 3–4 weeks accommodation near the hospital
• Food and transport during recovery
• Medical shortfalls not covered by Medical Aid
