Before my BackaBuddy campaign was approved, I was asked to submit documentation confirming the costs of the surgery, hospital and specialist anaesthetist. Once everything had been verified, my campaign was awarded the Verified badge, which I hope provides reassurance to anyone considering supporting my journey.

Two years ago I started saving for my cataract surgery after having been on the Government Hospital waiting list for over three years.

Each time I finally feel as though I am getting close, another unexpected health challenge seems to arrive, and the savings I have carefully put aside have to be used for doctor's visits, X-rays, blood tests, medication or hospital care.
