Help Nomfundo Fight for Mobility and Independence
 

Nomfundo Nkosi is a fighter. A young mother, a supply chain graduate, and a passionate disability rights activist, she refuses to accept a life of limitation. But right now, she is stuck trapped by a wheelchair that does not support her needs, her ambitions, or her right to independence.

In 2015, TB meningitis changed Nomfundo’s life, leaving her paralyzed and reliant on a wheelchair. But it did not take away her determination. She has dedicated herself to advocating for accessibility, employment opportunities, and the right of wheelchair users to live independently. Yet, despite her efforts, she faces the same systemic barriers she is fighting to dismantle.

Government support for people like Nomfundo is inadequate. While there are public healthcare routes for obtaining wheelchairs, these options prioritize the bare minimum providing equipment that is often ill-fitting, uncomfortable, and designed for dependence rather than freedom.
